"Clouds Hill - Dorset"

 Started: 20/03/2025 - Finished: 5/09/2025 - acrylic on canvas - H12" x W12"
$500

Clouds Hill
was originally built around 1808 as a simple forester's dwelling.  In 1922 T.E. Lawrence (AKA "Lawrence of Arabia") leased it and largely reconstructed it from 1922 to 1934.  It was his home until his death in 1935.  Lawrence left the cottage to his brother, who gave it to the National Trust in 1936.  It has been preserved pretty much as it was during Lawrence's lifetime and is open to the public.

Acrylic artists (like me) may notice the tubes of paint laying under the easel.  The tubes are quite large and easily recognizable as Reeves acrylic paints!

"Entrance to the Loggia at Hever Castle"

 Started: 20/03/2025 - Finished: 12/05/2025 -acrylic on canvas - H16" x W12"
$400

Hever Castle, in Kent (south of London), was the girlhood home of Anne Boleyn, 2nd wife of Henry VIII.  Henry later gave the castle to Anna of Cleves, his fourth wife who used it as a residence.  The loggia is part of a large "Italian Garden" built between 1904-1908 by American millionaire William Waldorf Astor (Lord Astor).  Before Astor's time, the area was marshland.

The view here is from standing at the northern edge of the loggia, looking east to a "lake" which is part of the River Eden.

"Contemplating Hever Castle"

 Started: 14/12/2024 - Finished: 18/01/2025 - acrylic on canvas - H16" x W24"
$300

Hever Castle, in Kent (south of London), was the girlhood home of Anne Boleyn, 2nd wife of Henry VIII.  Henry later gave the castle to Anna of Cleves, his fourth wife who used it as a residence.  The loggia is part of a large "Italian Garden" built between 1904-1908 by American millionaire William Waldorf Astor (Lord Astor).  Before Astor's time, the area was marshland.

The view of the castle is from the southeast.  Between the castle and bench are a waterway and a huge yew maze which was built in 1906 by William Waldorf Astor, who bought the castle in 1903 and created the maze using over 1,000 yew trees imported from the Netherlands.
